To further its mandate of protecting retail investors, creating awareness about saving and investment, financial markets and products, and building investor confidence, the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan has commenced another round of investor awareness seminars in collaboration with market professionals and associations. This series of seminars is part of the overall investor education program, which aims to enhance financial literacy and provide easy access to financial instruments through setting up of capital market hubs across major cities of Pakistan.
The seminars are aimed at enlightening the participants about capital markets, mutual and pension funds as investment/savings vehicles and initiatives taken by the SECP to safeguard interests of the investors.
The first seminar of the series was held on January 24 in Karachi in collaboration with CDC at the premises of the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan. The seminar attracted a substantial audience, mostly ICMAP members, and turned out to be a great success with engaging presentations and highly interactive Q&A session.
This was followed by seminars in Lahore on January 29 and Islamabad on February 09, conducted in collaboration with Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
